Inviting Candidates

How invites work

Interview Edge uses token-based invite links — candidates receive a unique URL and need no account to complete their interview. Each invite creates an interview_session row in the database with a UUID token embedded in the link.

Sending an invite

1. Click Invite Candidate in the sidebar (or Invite from a job detail page — this pre-selects the job)
2. Fill in the form:
   • Job / Role (required) — must be an active job
   • Candidate Name — optional, shown on the interview page
   • Candidate Email (required) — used to generate the invite link
3. Click Generate Invite

Once the invite is created, the right-hand panel updates to show:

• The unique interview URL with a Copy Link button
• A QR code you can scan or screenshot to share instantly

Sharing the invite

You can share the link via any of the following methods:

• Copy Link — copies the URL to your clipboard from the invite card on the right
• Email — paste the link into any email client; click Open email client to pre-fill a mailto draft
• WhatsApp — click Share via WhatsApp to open a pre-filled message
• SMS — click Share via SMS to open a pre-filled text message
• QR code — scan directly or download the QR card to include in a PDF, presentation, or print

If you haven't configured email or SMS credentials in your account, a modal appears with the link so you can copy and share it manually. The QR card on the right remains visible after closing the modal.

Invite links do not expire by default. Candidates can return to a partially completed interview using the same link.

What the candidate experiences

Once the candidate opens their link:

1. They see the job title and a welcome screen
2. Questions are presented one at a time (text mode)
3. They type answers and click Next to proceed
4. After the final question they click Submit Interview
5. The session status updates to completed and AI analysis runs automatically when you open the interview detail page

Tracking invites

All sessions — invited, in-progress, and completed — appear on the Interviews page. The Status column shows:

Status	Meaning
invited	Link sent; candidate has not yet started
in_progress	Candidate has opened the link and begun answering
completed	All questions answered and submitted
